How to Change Mechanical Seals on Pumps?

KSB pumps require regular checkups for any leakage, damage, wearing off of seals or pumping related issues. Thus changing mechanical seals becomes an important step in pump repairs.

How to check the KSB pumps for damages?

c. Remove the holding clips of the seals.
d. Fix the rotary unit in its position on the shaft sleeve with the help of screws.
e. Place the stuffing box back plate in its original place in the pump frame.
f. Put the pump impeller back on the shaft and rotate it in a clockwise direction so as to fasten it on to the threads with the help of screws.
g. You can use a new impeller gasket to fasten the impeller back on the shaft.
h. Compress the gland against the stuffing box plate.
i. Make sure that the compression is intact by checking the gap between the gland gasket and the stuffing box plate.
j. With the help of drivers, tighten the studs on the gland evenly.
k. To make sure that the seal is not in a bind, rotate the shaft.

After replacing the mechanical seals, you can complete the process of KSB pump repair by setting the wet end and motor end by each other. You can connect these two ends with the help of bolts, screws, and a wrench.
